Don’t Let Another Day Pass… Without
Creating a Living Trust
Mr.
and Mrs. Y. Change had the world in the palms of their hands. They were
in their mid-fifties, in impeccable heath, had two wonderful children,
an estate in California, a winter home in the Alps and a bank account
that would make even Donald Trump take notice.
Unfortunately, tragedy struck and the
Change children found themselves without their adoring and
financially-supportive parents. To add insult to injury, Mr. and Mrs.
Y. Change never established a living trust, leaving the Change children
in Probate Court, battling for what was rightfully theirs. After two
years in probate and hundreds of thousands of dollars later on
attorneys, executors, appraisals and court fees, the Change children
were left with just a portion of their parent’s original fortune.
Unfortunately, this scenario is all too
commonplace. While creating a living trust may seem cumbersome, the
alternative is far worse. Without one, you run the risk of your loved
ones enduring a time-consuming and costly process, known as probate.
Generally this legal process takes between nine months to two years and
includes costly fees.

Cain's Commentary...
Beginning this month, we will be sending
out a newsletter on a quarterly basis. You can look forward to reading
about special events, industry news, company and client spotlights,
contests, services and more.
On a personal note, my wife, Sandra, and I
had our first baby, Alejandra, on March 6, 2006. She’s an amazing
addition to our family!
Additionally, I have been elected to sit
on the board of the Parkinson’s Association, a cause that is very near
and dear to me. I’m looking forward to assisting the organization with
its efforts.

Parkinson’s Fundraiser...
The
Cain Law Group is not only committed to its craft, but also to the
community. As part of our social responsibility, we participated in Walk Together for the Cure
in an effort to improve the quality of life for those with Parkinson’s
Disease in the Greater San Diego area.
To help raise money Brian A. Cain and
Saretta Holler, our marketing consultant, guest bartended at Manhattan
Restaurant. All of the tips received were donated to the Parkinson’s
Disease Association of San Diego (PDASD). Additionally, Manhattan
Restaurant donated 10% of all sales that evening to PDASD. Generous
prizes were raffled off, including skin peels and skin care products
from Dr. Barry Broomberg, General Practitioner; a trust from The Cain
Law Group; a facial from Urban Skin Care; a $75 gift certificate to
Manhattan Restaurant; and an original painting by artist Narisa
Broomberg. In total PDASD raised $125,000, $1,250 of which The Cain Law
Group contributed. The race boasted a 50% increase of runners and
contributions this year.
